Thank you for your interest in supporting Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC). By making a contribution, you will have a vital role in bringing much needed health care services and programs to residents of the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.
You can make a general donation here OR you can donate to any of the four highlighted initiatives described below.
All donations are gratefully acknowledged with a receipt for tax purposes.
Mammograms
Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer among women regardless of race or ethnicity. Mammograms are an important tool for the early detection of breast cancer.
In 2009, the State Cancer Detection Program reduced funding for the Every Woman Counts Program, which paid for screening mammograms for low income women. With your support, we can continue to provide these life saving exams. A donation of $70 pays for one mammogram for a woman.
Reach Out and Read
Reach Out and Read (ROR) makes literacy promotion a standard part of pediatric care so that children grow up with books and a love of reading. ROR is a national program that encourages parents to read aloud daily to their children, distributing age and linguistically appropriate books to children at each routine medical checkup between 6 months and 5 years of age. Children growing up in middle class families are exposed to over 1,000 hours of one-on-one reading, whereas children from low income families are only exposed to 25 hours. Implemented in 2001 at one NEVHC health center, we now offer ROR at seven facilities, distributing about 10,000 books to low income children each year. A donation of $2.50 buys one book. Please help us help our littlest patients by donating now.
Homeless Health Care Program
The consequences of not providing health care for the homeless are costly to everyone. Life on the streets places homeless individuals and families at a high risk for physical assault and/or a variety of communicable diseases. Untreated diseases often result in costly ER visits and hospitalizations.
NEVHC treats over 2,700 homeless people every year, providing both preventive services and treatment of acute and chronic conditions. For more than 20 years, these services have been made available at our licensed Homeless Healthcare Clinic in North Hollywood. Additionally, our state-of-the art Homeless Mobile Clinic allows us to provide medical outreach and case management services at local churches, parks, health fairs and other sites where the homeless gather. Please help us serve these highly vulnerable patients by making a donation now.
Santa Clarita Valley Health Center
Approximately 30,000 adults residing in the Santa Clarita Valley do not have health insurance. This number is expected to grow given the economic downturn. Non-urgent ER visits are also on the rise. To expand access to care in the Santa Clarita Valley, NEVHC opened the Santa Clarita Health Center (SCHC) in Summer 2010. The clinic will have 7 medical exam rooms and offer WIC services. At full capacity, we expect 125 patients to walk through the doors of this new site each day!
You can support our efforts to expand access to primary care services in the Santa Clarita Valley by making a donation now.
