Definition:
The Business Office Manager performs and/or monitors the performance of
all Business Office operations, including supervision of Business Office
staff. In the absence of the Clinic Administrator and/or Associate Administrator,
may supervise functions and operations of entire NEVHC Clinic. Supervises:
May supervise any combination of the following positions: Clinic Clerk I/II,
Medical Records Clerk I/II, Registration Clerk, Eligibility Screener I/II,
Communications Specialist I/II, Front Office Coordinator, Acct. Collections
Coordinator, Medical Records Coordinator, and Consumer Relations Specialist.

Responsibilities:
Supervise and monitor all work performed in the Business Office.
Perform and delegate, as appropriate, the daily work. Serve as Front Office
Manager and supervise clerical staff involved in patient admissions, collections
and Medical Records. Perform, as needed, patient admission and registration
procedures, including advising patients of Center credit and collection
policies. Perform patient financial screening and determine eligibility
for subsidy and insurance. Process Medi-Cal, CHDP, Medicare, other third
party and special project claims. Code encounter forms with appropriate
ICD-9 diagnostic codes and with applicable RVS and computer transaction
codes. Complete verification of encounter forms and route for processing.
Post cash, third party payments and adjustments in accordance with procedures.
Prepare daily deposits and route to accounting.
Process paid and unpaid claims according to established procedure.
Follow up on paid and overdue accounts.
Process physician claims for hospital services and submit check requests
for physician payments to accounting.
Resolve patient billing problems and respond to inquiries from third party
payers. Communicate
with other Center departments to clarify and correct billing errors.
Perform other duties including back-up to Front Desk and other departments,
as needed.
Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an
emergency response team.
Participates in hazardous waste and infection control assignments as required
in the health center which may include being designated as an emergency
responder to a hazardous substance release or spill; performing infection
control data collection, evaluation, reporting and follow-up as specified
in the NEVHC clinical health services policy and procedures manual.

Qualifications:
Working knowledge of RVS and ICD-9 coding.
Proficient in knowledge of Medi-Cal, Medicare and insurance billing and
collections.
H.S. diploma/GED equivalency.
Three years' progressive responsibility in health care, with two years'
experience direct supervision.
Bilingual in Spanish/English required.
Computer literate: word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Willing and able to work flexible a schedule.
