Responsibilities:
Responsible for screening applicants, enrolling, disqualifying,
certifying and authorizing WIC checks for participants in the program
via the ISIS computer system. Works closely with other employees to
ensure the smooth operation of the clinic. Teaches nutrition education
classes.
Assists in maintaining security and inventory of the checkstock. Assists
with training employees in the clinic. Handles minor participant problems/questions
at the clinic or refers them to the supervisor. Assists in setting up
and cleaning up of clinic on a daily basis.
Assists in updating of WIC computer files, answers phones, contacts
participants by phone or mail, as needed. Attends inservice meetings
as scheduled. Participates in all safety programs which may include
assignment to an emergency response team. Participates in hazardous
waste and infection control assignments as required in the health center
(or if in a co-located site) which may include being designated as an
emergency responder to a hazardous substance release or spill; performing
infection control data collection, evaluation, reporting and follow-up
as specified in the NEVHC clinical health services policy and procedures
manual. Performs any other duties as necessary to ensure that the clinic
is running smoothly and efficiently.
Knowledge and Abilities:
Good communication
skills.
Knowledge of the policies and procedures for the Women, Infants and
Children (WIC) Program as they relate to the position.
Working knowledge of clinic procedures.
Ability to work as a team member with the WIC staff.
