Job Description: Physician, Board Certified
Definition:
Maintains responsibility for the medical services provided by the health care team. Examines, diag­noses and prescribes the treatment for patients. Maintains responsi­bility to assure that required health services are available to patients. Super­vises the care given by Nurse Practitioners and other team members. Has been certified by the Board of Medical Examiners.

Responsibilities:
Participates in the formulation of policies, procedures and protocols of health service delivery. Participates in the training and continuing education of professional health person­nel employed at the health center. Coordinates the work of the health care team with other divisions within the health center. Confers with consultants regarding care of patients and medical and diagnostic work performed, coordinating the work of consulting physicians with the work of the health care team. Makes daily rounds on NEVHC hospitalized patients if the physician is participat­ing on the NEVHC on call board. Participates in team conferences on a regularly scheduled basis. Participates in consumer education. May participate in health care research and the presentation and review of find­ings. Maintains required medical records and forms in a complete and accurate manner. Functions on a rotational basis as the physician on-call for all health center regis­trants when the health center is closed. Participates in all safety programs which may include assignment to an emergency response team. Participates in hazardous waste and infection control assignments as required in the health center which may include being designated as an emergency responder to a hazardous substance release or spill; performing infection control data collection, evaluation, reporting and follow-up as specified in the NEVHC clinical health services policy and procedures manual.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an approved medical school with an M.D. degree.
Successful completion of an approved internship and residency.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Practice
Current California State Physician and Surgeon's License and DEA license.
Eligible for hospital privileges in participating hospitals.
Certified by the Board of Medical Examiners
Bilingual Spanish preferable
