Nutrition Education
wic_nutrition-education-photo-final
Nutrition Education is the program benefit that makes WIC part of your healthcare program.  Families who participate in the WIC program have better birth outcomes, have less iron-deficiency anemia and learn useful information and skills that promote healthy habits for life, thus helping to reduce childhood obesity.

Education can be given either through personalized nutrition counseling or in group classes.  Some examples of topics include:

•    Smart shopping
•    Healthy eating for pregnancy
•    Healthy cooking
•    Feeding your children
•    Breastfeeding support groups
•    Dental health
•    Physical activity
•    Other group nutrition classes as suggested by participants

WIC nutrition education materials may be found here.
